The beetle that rests upon Stephen Dweck's jewelry signifies that the creation is a One of a Kind (OAK). Stephen meticulously places every beetle on each particular piece.

This is the story of Adam:
Seventeen years ago, Stephen was tending to his garden when a swarm of Japanese beetles came in, attacking his treasured rose garden. Out of his fascination for nature, he picked up one of the green beetles and brought it back to his studio. He decided to dry out the beetle and have it shellacked. He then proceeded to have the bug cast (to cast means to turn into a mold. A mold is a container into which liquid is poured, creating a given shaped when it hardens). After casting the beetle, it became deflated. Stephen then added new legs and rebuilt his body in silver, blowing a breath of life back into his new creation.

On another occasion while tending to his garden, he discovered the new and improved beetle that he had created, was sitting on the ground. He reached down to pick it up, and to his amazement, the bronze bug he had created in metal, was actually living in nature! From that turn of events, Stephen took a cue from nature and began casting his bug in every color of metal - rose gold, yellow gold, green gold, sterling silver, brass, bronze, and copper – to live upon his jewelry as it does in nature. Ultimately, Stephen made the beetle immortal in the world of Dweck.

He named the iconic beetle Adam during a Personal Appearance in St. Louis, signifying the first beetle of Dweck.
